No One Will Take Away Your Guns

If you want to understand the danger of gun control and why the Second Amendment matters, look to Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) and their film, "Innocents Betrayed."

No One Will Take Away Your Guns

After every strange tragedy involving maniacal, unexplainable mass murders, gun ownership soars. More people take classes and acquire their Concealed Carry Permits. People flood the gun shows buying more guns and ammunition. Readership of more freedom oriented magazines and web sites increases. Pro gun organizations add many new members. A pall of fear that guns will be confiscated grows.

Democrats insist that if only there were sensible gun control (eliminate the black and scary looking guns) a more mandated registration of all guns, background checks and screening of mentally ill people, all these terrible killings would cease.

Most Republicans say many additional suggestions for gun control are futile. Worse, they correctly point out, some suggestions by people with no knowledge of guns is actually ludicrous. “But OK,” many Republicans say, ”we are with you on additional gun registration, background checks and the screenings for mentally ill people.”

Then there is the other end of the spectrum; the really difficult to please libertarians, and anarcho types. These extremists object to any restriction on the type of firearm — no registration, no background checks, and no screenings or governmental decisions regarding mental competence. Wow! Is that extreme or not?

Well, before you decide that the last position is so far out there it should not even be discussed, I have a longer than usual video I would ask you to watch. I think better than any words I could say, it will explain why registration, background checks and governmental decisions on who has a mental illness or not, are not powers any governmental entity can be trusted to use judiciously and fairly.

My summary argument in brief:

  • background checks: a permission granted to favored compliant citizens rather than the free exercise of an inalienable right.
  • registration: each gun owner identified thereby expediting the separating out of all those considered uncooperative
  • mental illness: have you checked the statistics, now on file, of all the ordinary people duped into taking drugs for various  mental health reasons?

This video should not be watched by young children. It was produced by the premier pro freedom, pro property rights, pro self-defense organization, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. You will not enjoy the video, rather it will disturb you and haunt you. Hopefully, it will supply the understanding and courage to protest the means that are put in place, slowly over time, to confiscate firearms, a simple tool of self-defense. No, guns will not be confiscated – yet.

I am so very, very glad to find you! Thank you so much for reading and for taking the time to comment. There are so many arguments against "gun control" that this one only touched one segment, of course, but I think the Jews for the Preservation did a magnificent job of showing how many totalitarian governments used confiscation (preceded by registration) to keep control. Hitler in fact, did not, at first emphasize the good Germans needing to register, which you probably know. I think many are foolishly compromising as they think since they were approved, it is all just fine. I am very interested in what you do and would hope to refer people to your business. I am ready for a course or two or three myself. Horribly out of practice and not the strong hands, fingers, or eyesight as in the past...as we change we need to recognize and accommodate those changes that age brings on! I am going to read your article right now. Sounds like a terrible experience.

The beauty of being retired is that I don't have a "business," just several interesting and life fulfilling hobbies. :) I'm actually writing freedom oriented novels for the most part, am a senior admin for a freedom forum (The Mental Militia https://www.thementalmilitia.com/forums/index.php) a natural/holistic medicine practitioner and herbalist, as well as dabbling in a number of other things. If someone actually offered me a "job," I wouldn't know were to shoehorn it into my life.

Another article you might find interesting is: By what legitimate authority? http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/?page_id=1294

Why do so many people assume, or even enthusiastically agree with the idea that politicians, bureaucrats and “law enforcement” entities and personalities have some absolute and undeniable authority to do whatever it is they do, and to force that on all the rest of us who do not agree with their plans.

As for dealing with diminished strength and other problems of aging, I have considerable experience with that and have found ways to cope and compensate. I'd love to talk about it with you.

I'd also love to send you the book I wrote (I Am NOT A Victim) as supplement to my self defense classes. It is available free to anyone who requests it by sending me an email. mamaliberty at rtconnect dot net (simply replace the at and dot with appropriate symbols and eliminate the spaces. Type "self defense" in the subject line so it will go into the right filter for a prompt response.

Lynn, I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to find you, and I hope to find a great deal more of your writing.

You might be interested in the story of the man I had to shoot to save my life. http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/?page_id=846

I am retired from 30 years of nursing, now a certified instructor for firearms and self defense (among other things!). I have special classes for novices and women, and work hard to reach those who are afraid of guns or don't understand the need for self defense.

But, as you and the JPFO film make clear, ordinary criminals are not the only problem, nor are they the only reason for owning and carrying a gun.

An armed society is a polite society. Carrying a gun announces to everyone that you are a self owner, responsible for your own life and safety. It tells those willing to accept it that you are prepared to assist in the defense of everyone around you as well.

Slaves are not "allowed" to carry a gun. Free men and women can hardly be prevented from doing so. We don't need anyone's permission to be free. We just need to take responsibility for our lives and live free.
