The Ford F-150 is the best selling vehicle in America and has been for many years. Despite this, the popular truck is no stranger to recalls. On August 8, Ford Motor Company issued another safety recall, this time for over 100,000 of the company's ever popular half-ton trucks.

The recall is detailed in NHTSA Campaign Number 25V51200.

According to the notice, Ford "is recalling certain 2023-2025 F-150 vehicles equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design. The rear axle hub bolt may fatigue and break, which can result in damage to the axle hub splines."

The recall covers certain F-150s from model years 2023 to 2025.

To fix the problem, dealers are instructed to "replace the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies...."

Replacement of the defective part will be free of charge. The company will begin notifying owners whose trucks are covered by the recall on August 18. Recall letters will be sent to owners through May 22, 2026.

The new recall is an expansion of a similar, previous recall. The earlier recall was virtually identical, but covered F-150 trucks with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package for model years 2021 to 2023.

The earlier recall covered 112,595 trucks. With the new recall added, now over 200,000 trucks from model years 2021 to 2025 are being recalled.
