Though the hardcore leftists in the major media deny the accusation, mainstream news coverage, predictably, has been relentlessly negative when it comes to President Trump.

This is not a recent development, of course. The same was true during Trump's first administration and the coverage did not improve during the intervening four years of the Biden Administration when that President's political allies pulled out all the stops when it came to criminalizing their conservative political competition.

The attempt to criminalize conservative and traditional thought and action was broad-based and international in scope in keeping with the global socialist networks that are tied to the U.S. Democratic Party, however nebulously and surreptitiously. There has been broad censorship of conservatives in the UK and Germany, for example. In the US, Americans opposed to voter fraud have been legally persecuted. These have included "big" names like Mike Lindell of MyPillow and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. But many average Americans have also been targeted, including pro-life activists and even "traditional" Catholics who, notoriously, were identified by the Biden-era FBI as particularly suspicious.

"While the President is correct that these networks are biased and unreliable, it would be a significant violation of the First Amendment to shut them down. The federal government should not be in the business of policing speech..."

No one was targeted more directly, however, than Donald Trump. From the raid on his home in Mar-a-Lago, to dragging him through a courtroom in New York, the Democrat party and its allies went full-third world banana republic in their attempt to criminalize their chief political opponent. They very nearly succeeded in an effort that came close to tearing the country apart, their allies in the mainstream media played a significant role in the entire disrespectful endeavor, saturating the American people in a soup of lies and propaganda.

The media's negative coverage has continued into President Trump's second term. At the end of April Fox News reported that a study from the Media Research Center had found that after analyzing 899 news stories that appeared on mainstream networks ABC, NBC and CBS from January 20 to April 9, 2025, only 7.8 percent carried positive coverage of the President while 92.2 percent of the coverage was negative.

"Just 100 days into President Donald Trump’s second term, the broadcast evening news landscape is even more lopsided than it was eight years ago, when Trump was besieged with relentlessly hostile coverage," MRC researcher Rich Noyes noted in summation.

In response, the President now says he would support the FCC revoking the licenses of ABC and NBC for their relentlessly misleading and propagandistic "news" reporting.

Writing with his "characteristic use of all caps," Fox News reported, the President said of ABC and NBC: "THEY ARE SIMPLY AN ARM OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY AND SHOULD, ACCORDING TO MANY HAVE THEIR LICENSES REVOKED."

The full text of President Trump's post on Truth Social read:

"Despite a very high popularity and, according to many, among the greatest 8 months in Presidential History, ABC & NBC FAKE NEWS, two of the worst and most biased networks in history, give me 97% BAD STORIES. IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEY ARE SIMPLY AN ARM OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY AND SHOULD, ACCORDING TO MANY, HAVE THEIR LICENSES REVOKED BY THE FCC. I would be totally in favor of that because they are so biased and untruthful, an actual threat to our Democracy!!! MAGA"

While the President is correct that these networks are biased and unreliable, it would be a significant violation of the First Amendment to shut them down. The federal government should not be in the business of policing speech and a Republican administration should not engage in censorship tit-for-tat with the Democrats. That latter party has proven itself to the American people to be the party of oppression and censorship, and a Republican administration should not fall into the trap of responding in kind.

Moreover, it is unnecessary. The President enjoys broad support and approval and has only grown stronger over time because a majority of the American people are no longer susceptible to the propaganda put out by the mainstream news. In fact, many people have come to believe that whatever the mainstream media says about conservatives and President Trump is actually the opposite of truth.

The mainstream media is one of the institutions that has been captured by the political left. But the foundational culture has changed at its base and the market is shifting as a result. While the President might like to see change take place immediately, he will have to settle for patience and its eventual inevitability instead.

In the coming years, the market for mainstream media as leftist propaganda will dry up. In fact, it is already happening. Secondarily, the conservative mainstream, now dominant at the base of culture, will naturally rise through the ranks of the institutions, displacing leftist activists as they age out and retire.

In less than twenty years, the leftist hegemony we've seen for the last 30 years will be viewed as a dark curiously confined to the history books documenting the bad old days with the Democrat party and its aligned international socialits launched a failed coup in America.
