Who would have guessed that it would be John Fetterman who would emerge from the ranks of the Democrat party to be a voice of reason?

Once a lightning rod for the liberals, he once seemed likely to veer into "Squad" territory with the likes of AOC. But now, he is increasingly the voice of reason in a party that as a whole has rushed as fast as it can to the far, and even extremist, left.

In the latest example, the Pennsylvania Senator appeared on CNN and called for his party to stop spewing the hateful rhetoric that led to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, arguing that members of his party should stop comparing conservatives to Hitler.

"I think you just don’t ever, ever compare anyone to Hitler and those kinds of extreme things," Fetterman said on CNN according to Fox News. "Now, look what happened to Charlie Kirk. I mean, you know, the man was shot. Now, we have to turn the temperature down. We can’t compare people to these kinds of figures in history. And this is not an autocrat. This is a product of a democratic election," he continued, referring to President Trump.

CNN host Manu Raju -- as could be expected of CNN -- countered that Trump was outside the norm for American politicians.

"So you don’t think that Trump is at all shattering any of the norms of democracy in any way?" Raju asked.

"I’m saying he’s definitely different, but that’s what America voted for," Fetterman responded. "Again, I don’t agree with many of these things, but that does not make him an autocrat."

Fetterman went on to note that the Democratic Party lost its "connection with American voters" as evidenced by recent elections.

As it is clear, even to Senator Fetterman, that extremist rhetoric from the Left has played a role in stoking left-wing terrorism such as that which led to the murder of Charlie Kirk, it should also be clear that that rhetoric and terrorism is explicitly rejected by the majority of the American people.

For decades now, Democrat politicians and their media enablers have insisted that it is conservatives and Republicans (and even military vets) that pose a risk of violence and domestic terrorism, recent events have amply demonstrated to the American people that the opposite is true. Moreover, the ugly and reprehensible leftist celebrations of Kirk's assassination have revealed the true depth of leftwing depravity in America.

Absent rampant election fraud, the result of this is going to be the watershed defeat of the Democrat party in the next and probably most future elections.

And, perhaps Senator Fetterman senses this on the horizon as well.
