There always should have been greater urgency to find the causes of autism in the United States, because something just isn't right. Consider the statistics.

According to data published by the Centers for Disease Control, the number of autistic children in the U.S. has been increasing every year.

In the year 2000, according to CDC data, about 1 in every 150 children were identified as having autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Just ten years later, that number had increased to 1 in every 68 children. In 2020, the CDC notes, 1 in every 36 children had ASD.

Today, the CDC says, "About 1 in 31 (3.2%) children aged 8 years has been identified with ASD...."

If current trends continue, by 2030 we may be seeing 1 out of every 20-25 children diagnosed with autism.

We may finally find out what the cause of this epidemic might be in September.

According to a report in The Hill, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., secretary of Health and Human Services and founder of Children's Health Defense, is about to reveal what's behind the crisis.

According to the report, during the most recent cabinet meeting, President Trump addressed a question about autism to Kennedy:

"The autism is such a tremendous horror show. What’s happening in our country and some other countries, but mostly our country. How are you doing?”

Kennedy responded: “We are doing very well. We will have announcements as promised in September, finding interventions, certain interventions, now that are clearly almost certainly causing autism. And we’re going to be able to address those in September.”

In April, Kennedy had announced a research initiative to get to the bottom of the autism crisis. At the very least, it will be interesting to find out what that effort has uncovered.

Meanwhile, leftists and the propaganda media can't restrain themselves from attacking Kennedy despite the fact that he is leading what appears to be the first serious effort at the highest level of government to try to find a solution to the autism crisis.

Writing in the UK Independent newspaper, Eric Garcia called the cabinet meeting discussion of autism "grandstanding" with Trump and Kennedy "appearing to fear monger about autism...."

In its coverage, the Daily Beast said that "President Donald Trump is now parroting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s conspiracy that certain vaccines may lead to autism."

Why the hate for an administration that is finally trying to find a solution to the crisis?

Simply this -- Kennedy and, by extension, the Trump administration -- are suspicious that big government is the root cause of the problem.

The mainstream propaganda media earn their living by being "camp followers" of the deep state and can't abide any criticism of the hand that feeds them. Conservatives in general and the Trump administration in particular, are thus the targets of major media hate and invective whenever they take aim at big government.

With autism, Kennedy is taking aim at vaccines, which are the medical equivalent of total government. Against vaccines, individuals have few rights, with "authorities" at all levels exercising unaccountable power over the health of the most innocent of citizens -- children. Attacking vaccines, as Trump and Kennedy are perceived to be doing, is attacking the very core of the idea of centralized power. The mainstream propagandists in the major media cannot let this go unopposed.

Nonetheless, the health and wellbeing of the citizens of the nation should be first on the agenda for any serious Presidential administration.

Perhaps in September we will find out how serious this one is.
